Memory Design Insights: Taking a Closer Look at UHS-II High-Speed Memory

Ever since making their debut 17 years ago, SD cards have been a popular memory choice, though they really picked up speed when the micro form factor was introduced. Today, 99 percent of all mobile phones with a removable card slot use micro SD cards.

The SD Association continuously develops new specifications to enhance the performance, functionality and speed of SD cards. Though UHS-III was recently announced, the UHS-II spec was particularly important in that it introduced a second row of pins to the cards. In this Memory Design Insights video, I’ll explain why this is important, and detail Toshiba's introduction of the first micro SD card to support the UHS-II spec.
