PM5 SSDs + VMWare vSAN = Proven Compatibility

In case you missed it: Our new PM5 Series of enterprise SAS SSDs has just earned VMware vSAN™ 6.7 certification. Now, users of our flash-based 12Gb/s1 (gigabits per second) PM5 storage devices can share them across connected hosts in a VMware vSphere® cluster – and have peace of mind while doing so.

vSAN 6.7 certification also allows PM5 users to pool their SSDs together in a single, distributed shared data store – and define the storage capabilities (think performance, capacity, availability) required for each connected virtual machine within the VMware vSAN cluster.

Database applications have become the top workload for vSAN, making flash performance critical. Our BiCS FLASH™ 3D flash memory-based PM5 Series brings reduced latency, improved endurance, increased performance, and better Quality of Service (QoS) – making it an excellent option for the fast-growing hyper-converged infrastructure market.

Notes:

1 Definition of capacity: Toshiba Memory Corporation defines a megabyte (MB) as 1,000,000 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes and a terabyte (TB) as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 bytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes and 1TB = 240 bytes = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system, and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.
