Pushing Boundaries: QLC Gains Momentum

QLC Gains Momentum

What happens when data creation keeps going – and going – and going? Whether it’s from artificial intelligence and machine learning applications or all-flash arrays and SSDs – all of this data is increasing the need for high density storage solutions. Luckily, KIOXIA – the inventor of NAND flash and one of the world’s leading flash memory suppliers – has been applying its flash engineering expertise to push boundaries for years.  A 4-bit-per-cell, quadruple-level-cell (QLC) technology, which significantly expands capacity by pushing the bit count for data per memory cell from three to four, is just what is needed – and KIOXIA delivers it.

QLC is the future, and adoption is accelerating rapidly – in fact, according to Forward Insights, QLC will make up a total of 30% of all NAND flash shipments by 2025. It’s easy to see why this technology is growing in popularity: for applications needing high density, lower cost storage solutions, KIOXIA’s QLC technology reduces the footprint with one of the highest densities available in a single package.
