Meet the Memory Makers: Rock Musician Andy Hewett

Meet the Memory Makers Rock Musician Andy Hewett

I remember my first live rock concert. The lights, the sound, the electric feel of the crowd – these are all things that stayed with me long after the encore was played. For rock musician Andy Hewett, creating these kinds of unforgettable experiences isn’t just a goal, it’s the heartbeat of his career.

Andy is a professional bass player for the southern rock band Six Gun Sal and legendary metal band LONDON. Combining classic Southern Rock elements with a modern, soulful, and aggressive edge, Six Gun Sal is known for their melodic emotional ballads, heartfelt lyrics and grungy powerhouse songs – all of the makings of a truly memorable musical experience.

Whether he’s shredding his bass guitar or belting out vocals, making every show memorable is always on his mind. But behind the amps and the haze of the smoke and lights is something less visible: technology that makes sure those moments aren’t lost.

Andy tours extensively across the U.S. and internationally, performing, writing, recording, and collaborating with fellow musicians. But no matter where he goes in his travels, he’s never without a critical component of his setup: his flash memory and SSDs. Andy considers these storage solutions as important to his performances as his bass guitars.

“I use flash memory and SSDs constantly in my music business to capture and process audio and video,” Andy says. “Live music events, rehearsals, group songwriting, recording, video editing - it all relies upon fast, reliable storage.”

When he hits the road, Andy packs his gear like any working musician - bass guitars, cables, pedals - but right alongside those essentials are USB flash drives, SD cards, his laptop, and external SSDs. Once the tour ends and he’s back in his home studio, the creative work continues. Andy offloads digital assets from the road, including video clips, multitrack audio sessions, and behind-the-scenes photos. He then begins the process of editing and post-production. Flash memory is central to every part of that workflow.

Flash memory - invented by KIOXIA - enables Andy to keep up with the fast-paced, content-driven world of modern music. “It’s how I capture the moments,” he says.
